Traditionally, non-profits have always been supported by donations. Donations are still important and if you can make one to Global Peace Central, it will be welcome. But these are hard times, donations are harder to do, and so we’re augmenting them by affiliating with businesses positioned to help us. Here Global Peace Central enters the world of commerce. Does commerce ever support peace? It can—when we make choices that support sustainability. Peace will have limited value without sustainability, human life will not endure without conscious, cooperative integration with our environment. To one degree or another, we all use money to get on with daily life. Basically, money is a form of energy we exchange for other forms of energy. Those exchanges can be more or less positive. For example, one could buy seeds patented by Monsanto, or one could buy heirloom seeds from a family-owned organic farm. The second choice, obviously, is the sustainable one. Our affiliates represent sustainability and doing business with them helps to support Global Peace Central in the following way: If you visit our affiliates via our links and do some business with them, we earn a small commission for serving as the link. (It does not cost you anything extra, commissions are an element of the normal pricing structure.) In general, our affiliates are small businesses associated with such “green” values as organic food and farming, fair trade, recycling, alternative health and nutrition, and cooperation. It feels good to be associated with them and we hope they can add value to your life. |
